New Delhi (manvi media)The Investiture Ceremony of the 25th & 26th Batch of Sub-Inspector (SI) Trainees of CBI was solemnized at CBI Academy, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). Shri Praveen Sood, Director, CBI was the Chief Guest.
Praveen Sood, Director CBI congratulated all the passing out cadets and also those who won trophies in various fields including in the field of new-age investigation tools. He also congratulated the family members of the officers present on the occasion. Shri Sood complimented Shri J. S. Emmanuel, SP (Training), CBI Academy and Smt. Akanksha Gupta, Dy. SP, CBI Academy recipients of the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Training in the year 2020-21 after presenting the Medals to them.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Praveen Sood, Director, CBI called upon the young officers to work hard for maintaining high standards of CBI. Shri Sood pointed out that the long careers ahead of the officers will play significant role in ensuring bright future and in maintaining high reputation of CBI. DCBI underlined that the real test of the new officers starts now as they will be required to put in practice the important lessons learnt during multi-faceted training imparted by CBI Academy in various aspects of investigation. The immense faith reposed by public, government and judiciary is a matter of great pride for members of the organization, he added. Referring to the ethos of CBI which are ingrained in philosophy of working hard and quietly, Director CBI asked the officers to be fair and just while discharging duties. Stating that the profession of the CBI demands hard work, Shri Sood told the officers that besides working hard, they should develop the habit of working smartly. He advised the officers to not to ignore the families as he felt that striking a right balance between working life and the family life was possible.
Sood advised officers to continuously keep upgrading and updating their knowledge & skills, specially with regard to new-age crimes occurring in cyber space for its application to the investigation. He also called upon the officers to keep learning everyday as learning is life-long endeavour and the day we stop learning that also puts an end to growing further.
The 36 young and talented officers of 25th & 26th Batches comprise 20 B-Tech, 2 M-Tech and other 14 Post Graduates/Graduates in Science and Arts. These Officer Trainees hail from different regions across the country. A 73 weeks of hard, toil & diligent training was rendered to these probationers who joined CBI Academy after qualifying Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). During training, the cadets were trained in different fields including collection & preservation of physical evidence; scientific aids to investigation (including polygraph); brain mapping; narco analysis; DNA fingerprinting; interrogation & interview techniques, forensics medicine etc. The SI Trainees were also imparted training on Jurisprudence, Constitution of India, major Criminal Acts, Prevention of Corruption Act, Case Studies of important cases, Special Laws, CBI Crime Manual etc. Additionally, they underwent practical sessions on simulated firing at the CBI Academy. Various regional languages training including Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Punjabi, Odia, Bengali, Kannada, Assamese etc. was also given. Besides these, specialized training was also given on Anti-Corruption, Banking Frauds, Economic Offences, Intelligence & Surveillance Techniques, Cyber Crime and other special crimes including Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), Antiquities & Online Child Sexual Abuse.
During this course, training on Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) was started for the first time ever for the newly joined SIs undergoing the Basic Course. CFE certification is conducted by Association of Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) USA. SI Trainees underwent a rigorous 06-week training including Financial Transaction & Fraud Schemes; Law; Fraud Prevention & Deterrence and Investigation.
The Training Course of SIs aimed to inculcate in them the highest standards of professional integrity & rectitude, respect for Human Rights, vital ingredients of professionalism and strong sense of discipline.
During the ceremony, Director, CBI distributed awards to the following trainees: The D. P. Kohli Trophy for Best All Round SI Trainee to Shri Vijay Kumar; Director’s Trophy for Indoor Studies to Shri Sidharth Gilhotra; John Lobo Trophy for Best Outdoor SI Trainee to Shri Devvrat Tomar; CBI Academy Trophy for Dedication & Exemplary Conduct to Shri Gaurav Saini; Trophy for Cyber Crime Investigation to Shri Sidharth Gilhotra and Cash Reward of Rs. 50,000/- for exemplary performance in CFE Examination to Shri Kalibabu Gunda. On this occasion, Director, CBI also presented Union Home Minister’s Medals for Excellence in Police Training to Shri J. S. Emmanuel, SP (Training) and Smt. Akansha Gupta, Dy. SP, both of CBI Academy.
The function was attended by Additional Director Shri Ajay Bhatnagar & other officers of CBI, several senior officers from Ghaziabad, other guests and families of the Trainee officers.
